Rebecca Dvorin Strong is an artist living in Seattle, Washington. She is known for her exquisite portrayal of light in drawings and paintings. A graduate from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, she has been recognized by grants from Artist Trust in Seattle, for a series of symbolic tree self-portraits, and by the American-Scandinavian Foundation, for travel in Norway to locations above the Arctic Circle to paint the light of the Midnight Sun. In July 2016 she will be a resident at the Gullkistan Center for Creativity in Laugarvatn, Iceland, where the long hours of summer sunlight, the unusual landscape, the changeable atmospheric conditions, and the evocative mists will provide inspiration for new work.
